            Academic Services

The WCHS Athletic Department addresses the primary objective of its student-athletes with the work of its academic support staff.  The academic support team acts as a bridge between the student-athlete and school resources, ensuring that they are aware of and use the resources the WCHS has to offer.

            High School (Grades 9-12)

Students enrolled at Warren Central High School, the Walker Career Center, or the Renaissance School who do not maintain either a 2.3 (C) grade point average (GPA), failing one or more classes or are not passing in at least five core subjects each grading period, must attend mandatory tutoring sessions to be eligible for participation in any school sponsored extra-curricular activity.

At the end of a semester, the semester GPA takes precedence over the GPA earned in the last grading period.

The WCHS Athletic Department addresses the primary objective of its student-athletes with the work of its academic support staff.  The academic support team acts as a bridge between the student-athlete and school resources, ensuring that they are aware of and use the resources the WCHS has to offer.
The function of the support team is to:

            • Advise and assist student-athletes with academic, time management and organizational problems.
            • Organize and monitor a structured study table. All Freshman Student Athletes are required to attend study tables for a minimum of 4.5 weeks.
            • Track academic progress using information on attendance and performance submitted in mid-term, quarter and semester grade reports by faculty.
            • Provide individual and group tutoring and other study sessions among students with similar needs, assuring questions are answered properly.
            • Assist with NCAA Eligibility.
            • Provide additional support and preparation for standardized tests and college entry exams.
            • In addition to the academic support staff, WCHS provides a variety of other resources that give students the personal attention needed, both inside and outside the classroom.
